Día de los Niños

Dia de los Ninos ASU

6th Annual El Día de los Niños/El Día de los Libros Literacy Celebration sponsored by English Education at Arizona State University (ASU) for middle school and high school students (6-12 grade) across Arizona.

El Día de los Niños, El Día de los Libros is a national day of tribute to children, literacy, and culture most often celebrated through local events in Southwestern communities. It is a celebration of children and the importance of advocating literacy for youth of every language and every ethnic background.

The purpose of the event is to create a space for elementary and high school students to partake in a variety of multicultural and multilingual literacy-based reading and writing activities, while enjoying stories from their favorite storytellers and authors. This is a true celebration of culture, language, and literacy.

Young Adult Writing Program

An interactive illustration workshop for youth in grades 3-12 on the Tempe Campus as part of the Young Adult Writing Program (YAWP), a component of the Central Arizona Writing Project (CAWP) at Arizona State University, Tempe Campus.

YAWP is summer experience designed to offer young writers a supportive environment in which to explore the power of creative writing. YAWP sessions include guest speakers, daily writing workshops, writing marathons, and activities to promote creativity, uncover craft secrets, peer revision opportunities, a chance to become published authors, and more. YAWP is offered during the month of June at the ASU Tempe, West and Polytechnic Campus.

I would like to invite you to visit our YAWP Tempe site as a guest presenter. Guest writing workshops usually last between 45 minutes-1 hour on Tuesdays and Thursdays of camp.

Would you be available to facilitate an interactive illustration workshop for youth in grades 3-12 on Tuesday June 21, 2016 from 10:00-11:00a.m. on the Tempe Campus? We would LOVE to have you join us and share your gifts with our young writers.

Please let me know if you are available.
